The Rights Of Way Department at Essex County Council has advised interested stakeholders that it intends to form a working group of its own officers as well as motor vehicle users. This will be authorised with decision-making on the management of county’s green lanes. It’s a move away from the disparate us-and-them approach taken some local authorities, and one which local Green Lane Association representative Robert Tongue has responded to with enthusiasm. With GLASS represented in the group, lane users in the area can be sure that there’ll be a voice of reason in the ear of what is already one of the country’s most proactive and forward-thinking local authorities.
