Smart Range of Truck Tops Launches Into Britain
Up-Country Autoproducts has introduced the Smart brand of pick-up hard-tops. Offering high-value prices and loads of standard features, these are available for a wide range of trucks and typically cost less than a grand ex-VAT.
The tops are designed to be functional, but unlike some high-volume designs they’re pretty stylish, too. As for those features, they include a rear door, complete with heated window, that opens on gas struts and comes complete with a rear spoiler and integrated third brake light. The spoiler is colour-coded, as is the whole canopy, to match your vehicle.
The front and side windows slide to open, with the latter being tinted, and longitudinal roof rails are standard. So too is an LED interior light with on-off switch, which is battery powered and therefore doesn’t need any fiddly wiring.
Finally, the rear door has an easy one-handed operation and double-sided locking mechanisms. Stainless steel is used throughout for the hardware, and the whole plot fits easily to the vehicle using four aluminium clamps.
That’s a whole lot of features to pack into one hard-top – in fact, we’ve tested new vehicles with less going on. Anyway, if you’re in the market for a hard-top you’re already wondering if they do one for your truck, and it’s odds-on they do. If that truck is a Ford Ranger T6, Isuzu D-Max 2012-on, Nissan Navara D40, Toyota Hi-Lux, Mitsubishi L200 Long Bed or VW Amarok, happy days.
We’ve already mentioned the tops’ high-value pricing, and at £949 plus the dreaded you can spend more to get less.
